y2k_jungle
y2k_jungle is a musician who makes music in the style of jungle and IDM.
y2k_jungle was created in 2022 and is one of Sido's projects. This was his very first experience in music, and therefore he tries not to mention his early works.
Biography
Early 2023
Around the beginning of 2023, Sido (y2k_jungle) became interested in writing music. And inspired by Ambient Jungle selections from YouTube, he began to create. The first release of y2k_jungle (Sound preassure VOL1) was, in the words of Sido himself, “Shame”. After this, a second EP entitled "Feelinn EP" was released. Sido remembers him only with warmth in his soul. "Feelinn' EP was a kind of leap for me... A discovery! It was my first work in the jungle style and it was a success."
Late 2023
In early summer 2023, development of the first full-length album began. At that moment, Sido was going through far from the best period in his life, and therefore the title of the album was appropriate: “I’m scared of people and can’t do anything about it.” The album was created throughout the summer of 2023. “The album came out as crumpled as possible. For the first work it’s OK, but I want something of better quality.” After these words, he dropped the first album and laid everything out as it is. After this experience, Sido began developing a new album called "Weird stuff". “I wanted to do something unique... And I succeeded! I just threw together all the genres that I like and I got my own style of “Crush Junge” Jungle combined with acid, breakbeat and God knows what else...” The album became the most viewed video on his YouTube channel (448 views at the time of writing this article). Sido himself still considers Weird Stuff one of his best works. "I made a masterpiece. This is a subjective opinion, but the album works as it should. It brings emotions when listening and that's the main thing." On December 23, the album “Pink desert” was unexpectedly released. At the moment it is not relevant due to the presence of a reissue, but it is worth mentioning that Sido also has a very warm attitude towards this album.
2024
In 2024, the development of the huge album "White Album" began. Not much can be said about the development, except that the original album length was a whopping 2 hours! Why is the final album only an hour and a half long instead of two? The answer was given by the author himself: “The length of the album is two hours and initially it seemed crazy to me, but when I plunged into the very process of creating this music, I realized that I couldn’t do that much.” The White Album was released on May 9, 2024. Despite the literal presence of the genre in the pseudonym (y2k_JUNGLE) This project is more focused on IDM than on jungle or dnb. "The White Album is a great tribute to the IDM genre. Almost all the tracks were inspired by one artist or another. For example, Grotesque is Cujo, and Walt is Spooky." The White Album became the second y2k_jungle album to be released on streaming (the first was the debut). The success of the album in the narrow circles of IDM fans in Russia was very noticeable. All tracks from the White Album were included in the Russian IDM playlist from the Warp records fan community.
Notes
- At the end of 2023 there was also a change in the image and style of the project, but this was not mentioned in the biography due to the brevity of this period.
- Small EPs and releases of which there were a lot after the release of the original pink desert were not mentioned because almost all the important tracks from them were released later as part of full albums.
- y2k_jungle has currently moved to Grotesque Records (a label also created by Sido ) so the most recent release ("Cord") was not mentioned.
